What Next For The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

If you’re a proud and vocal MCU fan, desperately clinging onto the success of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3 because they’re worried about what kind of future Marvel holds. Look no further, as this article will settle your concerns – to an extent.

It goes without saying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far and away the most successful movie franchise of all time. Spanning across 32 movies, and now even 8 limited series on the Disney+ platform, the MCU is set to hit its 15-year anniversary in 2023, since the launch of Iron Man back in ’08.

But after the franchise has failed to hit the peak of events that was Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame throughout recent attempts, it begs the question: What next for the Marvel cinematic universe?

The recent success of James Gunn’s Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3. has since shed some light on the MCU which seemed to be dropping in audience members project after project. But with the Guardians trilogy and entire storyline now fully wrapped up, and with James Gunn heading to DC, it’s fair to say that we probably won’t see these characters again.

For the most part.

For years, the Guardians were a breath of fresh air throughout the universe and essentially lived on their own island that wasn’t really intertwined with any other ongoing storylines within the MCU. Which is one of the many reasons why audiences rate the trilogy so highly amongst its strong competitors.

But with the Guardians trilogy now wrapped up, MCU fans can now turn their attention to the next upcoming project, through the form of Marvel’s Secret Invasion.

Despite the recent trailer release, there is still very limited information to know at this point about Secret Invasion. Other than the fact that we will see Samuel L. Jackson return as Nick Fury, and the show also features talented actors such as Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke.

The series is set to take place on Earth, with Fury working closely with the Skrulls, the alien race that we met back in 2019 with Captain Marvel.

Speaking of Captain Marvel, we are also set to see the release of “The Marvel’s” at the back end of 2023. The Marvel’s is set to see Brie Larson returning as Captain Marvel in the lead role, with Monica Rambeau and Ms Marvel set for their first big-screen appearance.

Once again, despite the recent teaser trailer release, there is limited information to know about the project. But seeing a though we have a November release date for this production, there is more than enough time for another trailer or two.

Given the recent success of Loki on the Disney+ platform, we are once again to see the God of Mischief return to our screens through the form of Loki Season 2.

Marvel are still yet to speak out about the recent controversy regarding the arrest of Jonathan Majors, who played Kang the Conqueror in the debut season of Loki and was expected to play a large role in the following season.

But we wouldn’t be ridiculous to assume that the show will still be released, regardless of the outcome of the trial.

Looking even further down the line, further than 2023, we will once again see the Avengers return to the big screen, but not in the way we have come to know. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set for release in May of 2025. With very little confirmed about the movie, all we really do know is that it will be a completely new fresh-faced set of Avengers, given that the original bunch aren’t signed on to do any more movies.

So if you are an MCU fan and are now fearing the worst now that we have seen the last of the original Avengers and now the Guardians of The Galaxy, stop.

The MCU is in good hands and there are plenty of new projects and new stories waiting to be told.
