MCU fans have had to wait long and hard for the third and final movie of the Guardians of The Galaxy trilogy. So long that we must date all the way back to 2017 to remember what Volume 2 was like.
However, with the recent drop in audience numbers going to watch Marvel movies, and the recent drastic drop in critic scores, it begs to ask the question: “Is Guardians 3 the MCU’s last hurrah?”.
Ever since 2014, when we were first introduced to the Guardians, they have been fan favourites and global audiences have enjoyed every part they have played across the 5 films they’ve featured in, as well as a Christmas special.
So, when the news was announced that we would in fact see a third Guardians of The Galaxy movie, this sent fans into an overload of excitement.
Despite the most recent success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a considerable number of “flops” over the past 6 years (since Guardians Vol. 2).
With Box Office upsets such as Eternals, Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love & Thunder and a handful more, it is easy to see that the light at the end of the “Marvel tunnel” is a lot closer than some may think.
As time goes on and more and more MCU projects are released, it is hard to see what route the franchise will go down in order to maintain their high standards of success.
With most of the original characters all either dead or retired, and with the Guardians soon to be added to this long list, the number of tricks that Marvel has to pull out of their sleeve is becoming smaller and smaller, hence the end of the MCU.
Given the track record of the first two Guardians’ movies, there is no reason to expect anything short of brilliance within the third and final instalment.
And following the recent trend of poor reviews and lack of box office success within the MCU, it only leads audiences to believe that Guardians of The Galaxy 3 could very well be the MCU’s last hurrah.
